Grapplers split at Brockport Duals

SUNY Niagara split a pair of matches against NCAA Div. III competition at this past weekend's SUNY Brockport Duals. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 23 in the latest NJCAA poll, moved to 2-3 overall in dual meets this season. SUNY Niagara is next in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Alfred State as part of the annual Wolfpack Cup. 

SUNY Niagara 38, Utica University 12

The T-Wolves won five matches via pinfall to secure the victory. Ayden Downing (125), Mike Catanzaro (133), Michael Syposs (157), Joseph Cicco (165) and Aiden Poe (184) each earned six points for the winners. Vinny Falsetti got five points for a techincal fall at 141 pounds and Bobby Ranger (285) won a narrow decision to round out the scoring for SUNY Niagara.

SUNY Brockport 50, SUNY Niagara 4

Poe, a freshman officially making his SUNY Niagara debut, picked up an 11-0 major decision over Elijah Bonet at 184 pounds. The unbeaten Golden Eagles benefitted from three forfeits and four pins.
