Catanzaro & Mathews win at Thunderwolves Open
The dynmaic duo of sophomore Mike Catanzaro and freshman Te'Shaun Mathews continued their strong starts to the season with individual titles at this past Saturday's annual Thunderwolves Open hosted by SUNY Niagara.
Catanzaro went 3-0 in the 133-pound bracket, including a pair of pins and a 10-2 major decision over Anthony Cage (Muskegon CC) in the championship bout.
Mathews finished 3-0 at 149 pounds, earning two pins and 9-2 decision over Jamestown Community College's Nicholas Ewan in the finals.
Freshman Vinny Falsetti was runner-up at 141 pounds, while classmate Michael Syposs (157) took second with a 3-1 record.
Freshman Joseph Cicco (165) also won three matches on his way to third place.
The Wolves return to action on Tues. Jan. 14 for the annual Wolfpack Cup.
