Niagara County Community College returned to the pitch for the first time in three weeks and suffered a tough 8-0 Region III setback to visiting Herkimer College on Friday afternoon.
The Thunderwolves, who played most of the game at least two players down due to injuries, fell to 0-3. The Generals, ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 1-2.
The T-Wolves struggled to muster much offense as they were out-shot 21-1 in the contest, which was shortened to just 75 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Mallaber made 13 saves in net.
Jazmyn Gillette had two goals and three assists to lead a potent Herkimer offense.
NCCC closes out its season at 2 p.m. Fri. May 14 when it hosts No. 3 Mohawk Valley Community College.
