Chunco nets four goals in NCCC victory

Niagara County Community College freshman forward Rachel Chunco scored four goals in a season-opening 5-1 Region III road win at Onondaga Community College on Saturday afternoon.

It was the program's first win since the fall of 2018 and head coach Ricky Fleck's first victory at the helm. NCCC is now 1-0 on the young season, while the Lazers fell to 0-1.

Chunco had a hat trick in the first half to put the Thunderwolves in control. Classmate Olivia Bruning scored the other goal for NCCC, which played the entire game with just 10 players.

Freshman Georgia Dammann tallied a career-high three assists with single helpers credited to freshmen Robin Hidy and Jessica Maroney.

Freshman goalkeeper Madison Austin, playing out of position, made four saves to earn her first win between the pipes,

Claire McNitt scored the only goal for OCC.

The T-Wolves return to the field at 3 p.m. Wednesday when they host No. 8 Genesee Community College (2-0).
