Women's soccer falls in home opener

Niagara County Community College played with a full roster for the first time this year, but still ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision to visiting Region III foe SUNY Broome in steamy conditions on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves fell to 0-3-0 in regional play this fall.

NCCC freshman Sophia Steffans was the team's most aggressive player throughout, registering the most touches and a shot on goal. Classmate Paige Hanson made her collegiate debut in goal, finishing with two saves in the setback.

The Hornets held a 7-2 edge in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner-kick opportunities. Broome had three different goal scorers in the win.

The T-Wolves return to the pitch at 2 p.m. Saturday for a home date with Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
