SUNY Niagara earned a hard-fought 2-0 Region III victory over visiting Corning Community College on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Thunderwolves clinched their first postseason berth since 2021.
The T-Wolves, who finished the regular season 4-5-0 overall and 4-4-0 in regional play, will be the No. 8 seed and travel to top-seeded Mohawk Valley Community College for a District semifinal. Kickoff is tentatively slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Utica University.
Freshman Samantha Furan got the homestanding Wolfpack on the board early, converting a cross from sophomore Rylee VanNostrand.
Freshman Natalie Hoffman, meanwhile, put the game on ice when she scored SUNY Niagara's second goal in the 72nd minute. Furan was credited with an assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Alexandria Szratter finished with seven saves to earn her second shutout of the season.
