NCCC loses to Red Barons in straight sets

Niagara County Community College continued to struggle in the early portion of the season, falling in three sets to visiting Corning Community College in Region III action on Sunday morning.

The scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-23 in favor of the Red Barons (1-2). NCCC fell to 0-4.

NCCC freshman Gianna Smalley had a strong all-around performance with eight kills, three service aces and four digs.

Also for N-Trip, freshman Kaitlin Hoadley recorded 16 assists, classmate Alyssa Winstanley put down four kills and first-year libero Jocelyn Swierski added eight digs.

Abagail Whitford had nine kills to lead Corning CC.

The Thunderwolves return to the court at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they host unbeaten Monroe Community College.
