NCCC goes to five games with Corning

Niagara County Community College put together a spirited effort, taking Corning Community College to five games, but ultimately fell twice in Region III pod action hosted by SUNY Broome this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves are now 1-15 overall and 0-12 in regional play. Next up is the final pod of the season with first serve slated for 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 15 at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Corning CC 25-25-23-19-15, Niagara CCC 15-21-25-25-8

Despite 21 service aces, the T-Wolves fell in five sets. Freshman Maggie Monachino had 26 assists and five aces, classmate Juliana Levesque put down nine kills and fellow frosh Lilah Frerichs added seven kills and two blocks. Also for NCCC, freshman Hanna Roberts finished with 12 digs, freshman Allison Farley had five kills and six aces and freshman Courtney Gregoretti had her best performance of the year, finishing with eight digs and four aces.

SUNY Broome 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 15-18-10

Roberts notched 14 digs in the straight-set loss. Farley had four kills and three aces, Levesque added four kills and three digs and Monachino chipped in with 13 assists for the Thunderwolves.
