SUNY Niagara split a pair of matches at a Region III pod hosted by SUNY Broome Community College this past weekend. The Thunderwolves are now 4-12 overall and 3-9 in regional play with one pod remaining. The Wolfpack heads to Erie Community College to face Mohawk Valley Community College and Herkimer College at 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 19.

Freshman Paige Van Every put down a career-high 10 kills and sophomore Juliana Levesque recorded six service aces, five kills and 18 digs in the gut-wrenching five-set loss. The scores were 26-24, 26-24, 17-25, 15-25 and 15-10 in favor of the host Hornets. Also for SUNY Niagara, freshman Cait Cliffe had 16 kills and 22 digs and classmate Ava Gaudy added 34 assists and six digs.

Cliffe had another strong outing with eight kills, 17 digs and five aces in the straight-set sweep. The scores were 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23 in favor of the Thunderwolves. Van Every chipped in five kills and four blocks, Gaudy had 21 assists and Levesque contributed 14 digs.
