Wolves swept in season opener

SUNY Niagara dropped its season-opening match to Western New York Athletic Conference rival Monroe Community College on Thursday night. The scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18 in favor of the host Tribunes (1-0 overall, 1-0 WNYAC). The Thunderwolves fell to 0-1 both overall and in WNYAC action.

Freshman Cait Cliffe had six kills and three service aces for the T-Wolves, who held a 21-19 lead before allowing six consecutive points to close out the opening set. Fellow frosh Lydia Tetrault added seven sigs and sophomore Juliana Levesque had two kills in the setback. 

The Wolfpack has a quick turnaround as it heads to Johnstown for a Region III pod at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. First serve is slated for Noon Saturday with matches against the nationally-ranked Raiders and Jefferson Community College.
