Thunderwolves sweep season series vs. JCC

Niagara County Community College swept the season series from Jamestown Community College and in the process locked up the No. 1 seed in the Western Division standings this past weekend.

NCCC is now 25-8 overall and 16-2 in divisional play, while the Jayhawks fell to 9-16, 7-11.

The T-Wolves will host the best-of-three Sub-Regional round of the postseason beginning this Saturday. Opponents and game times are TBA.

Niagara CCC 9, Jamestown CC 2

Sophomore Ryan Peterson improved to 7-0 on the year as he tossed yet another complete game. The lefty allowed just four hits and two earned runs with 10 strikeouts. Classmate Scottie O'Bryan was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to pace the offense. Freshman Cole Laskowski finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Niagara CCC 16, Jamestown CC 1 (5 inn.)

Freshman Cal Brazier was 2-for-2 with a triple, four RBIs and four runs scored as the N-Trip bats exploded. Laskowski went 2-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored, freshman Bryce Moore was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and classmate Lance Baldensperger was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Freshman Chad Gartland moved to 5-2 on the bump as he tossed four innings of one-hit ball. 

Niagara CCC 12, Jamestown CC 6

Freshman Austin Mann threw 4.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up his first win of the year. NCCC plated six runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a tie game. Sophomore Joey Battaglia was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Brazier and fellow second-year player Nolan Gallo each added two RBIs. Freshman Andrew Fairbrother was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Niagara CCC 16, Jamestown CC 7

O'Bryan led a potent NCCC offense as he went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. Laskowski was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Battaglia went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored and freshman David Stirpe added two RBIs and two runs scored. Also for N-Trip, Baldensperger was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Fairbrother went 3-for-4 for the second straight game. Freshman reliever Troy Leibert improved to 3-0 on the hill.
