Thunderwolves win regional championship

Niagara County Community College got clutch hitting and solid pitching on its way to the Region III Championship this past weekend at Veteran's Memorial Park in Little Falls. It is the sixth regional crown in program history and first since 2017.

NCCC (30-9), which was ranked No. 9 in last week's NJCAA Div. III poll, has clinched a berth in the annual NJCAA Div. III World Series. The double-elimination tournament is slated for May 29-June 3 at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tenn.

Sophomore Scottie O'Bryan ripped a single down the first-base line in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete the comeback in the "if-necessary" title contest on Sunday evening. Freshman Cole Laskowski provided the big blast for N-Trip, clubbing a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the seventh frame.

Sophomore Ryan Peterson moved to 9-0 on the season as he tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts. Freshman Andrew Fairbrother ripped two home runs on his way to four RBIs, Brazier was 3-for-5 with a long ball and an RBI and O'Bryan added two hits, including a home run, and an RBI.
