SUNY Niagara drops home opener

Host SUNY Niagara squandered a second-half lead en route to a 6-2 setback to Region III opponent Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in regional play.

Freshman Mason Gioeli gave the T-Wolves a brief 2-1 lead early in the second period before the Panthers netted five consecutive goals. Classmate Ayham Blasiny finished with a goal and an assist, freshman Dylan Ljiljanich had an assist and freshman goalkeeper Quinn Walton was busy throughout, finishing with 17 saves.

The T-Wolves are back in action at 3 p.m. Sunday when they travel to the turf at Finger Lakes Community College.
