Thunderwolves finish in draw with rival Erie

SUNY Niagara men's club soccer finished in a 2-2 draw with rival Erie CC Wednesday in Sanborn. The Thunderwolves are now 4-1-1 in their last six contests, dating back to a 2-1 win versus Roberts Wesleyan JV on Sept. 24.

Trailing 1-0 through the first 30 minutes of play, Nikolas Magaris scored his fifth goal of the season as he converted a penalty kick in the 31st minute to tie the contest. The score remained 1-1 at halftime. 

SUNY Niagara later converted a second penalty kick as Gianfranco Centeno found the back of the net in the 47th minute for a 2-1 lead. This was Centeno's seventh goal of the season and his fifth over the three contests, dating back to SUNY Niagara's 2-1 win over Lorrain on Saturday in Ohio. 

The Kats then struck back in the 53rd minute and tied the contest at 2-2.

SUNY Niagara was outshot, 12-11. Centeno, Magaris, Ayham Blasiny and Ryan Kuebler recorded three shots apiece. Ben Chiodo recorded four saves in the loss.

SUNY Niagara (6-3-1) continues its season versus Bryant & Stratton Rochester at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sanborn. This is the final home contest of the season for SUNY Niagara, which concludes its season Oct. 24 at Roberts Wesleyan JV and Oct. 29 at Buffalo State JV. Both road contests begin at 7 p.m.
