NCCC splits four-game set with Lakers

Niagara County Community College split a four-game Region III Western Division series with Finger Lakes Community College this past weekend. The Thunderwolves are now 5-3 both overall and in divisional play, while the Lakers moved to 6-18, 5-11. NCCC returns to action at 1 p.m. Sunday when it takes on visiting Genesee Community College.

Finger Lakes CC 11, Niagara CCC 10

Freshman Jordan Dixon was 2-for-3 with a home run, triple and four RBIs in the loss. Classmate Sierra Newton had an RBI double, while sophomore Maddy Glena and freshman Maddie Burr each finished with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Finger Lakes CC 9, Niagara CCC 8

Freshman Makayla Montes was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBIs in the setback. Freshman Lydia Serrano was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Glena went 3-for-4 for the visitors. 

Niagara CCC 7, Finger Lakes CC 5

Serrano picked up her fourth win of the year after allowing just two earned runs in a complete-game effort. At the plate, the freshman was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman Morgan Allis added two hits and an RBI and Dixon ripped two hits.

Niagara CCC 8, Finger Lakes CC 5

Dixon got her first career victory in the circle, while Serrano earned the save with 2.2 innings of one-hit relief. Serrano also had two RBIs, while Montes went 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored.
