Wolves battle with Onondaga

SUNY Niagara dropped a pair of competitive Region III contests to host Onondaga Community College on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves dropped to 1-14 overall and 1-4 in regional play. SUNY Niagara returns to the diamond at 3 p.m. Thursday for a home date vs. Corning CC.

Onondaga CC 16, SUNY Niagara 8 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Rylee VanNostrand hit a two-run home run to lead a strong offensive output. Freshman Natalie Brandel was 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and three runs scored, while classmate Quinn Manth went 3-for-4 and fellow frosh Mia Herman ripped a triple and double.

Onondaga CC 14, SUNY Niagara 13 (8 inn.)

Freshman Jordan Shaffer was 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored in the extra-inning setback. Sophomore Kaylee Hassler, freshman Lauren Kisloski and classmate Caitlyn Hanley notched two hits and two RBIs apiece. Hanley also scored three runs. Herman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Manth had a triple.
