T-Wolves win fourth straight regional championship

Top-seeded Niagara County Community College won its fourth consecutive Region III Division II Championship via a 78-60 win over No. 2 Jamestown Community College on Sunday afternoon at NCCC.

The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 26-3 overall. The Jayhawks fell to 13-14.

NCCC sophomore Alaina Forbes scored a game-high 25 points to earn All-Tournament honors. Freshman Gabrielle McDuffie was named Tournament MVP after contributing 16 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The freshman backcourt tandem of Kiya Marquez and Aichata Ballo were also All-Tournament selections. Marquez had 10 points, four boards and three assists, while Ballo stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, seven steals and six assists.

Kymi Nance led JCC with 23 points.

N-Trip returns to action at 11 a.m. Saturday when it hosts SUNY Sullivan in the East A/B District semifinals.
