NCCC knocks off D1 Mustangs

Niagara County Community College scored 26 fourth-quarter points on its way to a key 63-54 non-conference win over NJCAA Div. I opponent Monroe College on Sunday afternoon at Ithaca High School. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 21-1 overall.

NCCC sophomore Faith Alessandra had 19 points and six rebounds in the win, while Ithaca graduate Mia Little finished with 13 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Little netted 11 of her 13 points in the final period.

Sophomore defensive standout Tessa Schuey scored all seven of her points in the fourth frame, while freshman Krystal Smith chipped in eight points and five boards off the bench.

The T-Wolves return to the court at 1 p.m. Sat. Feb. 10 when they host WNYAC rival Monroe Community College.
