Cook earns All-American status

SUNY Niagara 157-pound freshman Kace Cook finished in eighth place and earned All-American status at this past weekend's NJCAA Championships held at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Cook, who was battling injury throughout the event, finished 4-3 overall with three wins coming by major decision and the fourth via pinfall. Cook is the 55th All-American in program history.

The Thunderwolves, who had four wrestlers participate in the tournament, finished in 25th place overall (27 points) - but sixth among non-scholarship schools. Western Wyoming was the Div. I champion, while Rochester (Minn.) won the Div. III portion of the event.

Sophomore transfer Mike Catanzaro was 3-2 at 133 pounds, notching two pins and a technical fall. Freshman Joseph Florance went 2-2 at 125 pounds, earning a pin and tech fall. Classmate Renso Montalvo finished 1-2 at 149 pounds, picking up a tech-fall victory.
