T-Wolves go 2-0 at Elmira Duals

SUNY Niagara knocked off a pair of four-year NCAA Division III schools at Thursday's Elmira College Duals.

The Thunderwolves, who are ranked No. 23 in the most recent NJCAA men's wrestling poll, improved to 6-4 in dual meets this season. 

SUNY Niagara returns to the mats at 10 a.m. Sunday for the annual John Carroll Open. 

SUNY Niagara 46, Utica University 12

Sophomore Cameron Hall led a parade of five Wolves, who won via pinfall. Hall needed just over a minute to take his opponent down at 174 pounds. Other winners via pin were: freshman Ayden Downing (125), freshman Vinny Falsetti (149), sophomore Michael Syposs (157) and freshman Joseph Cicco (165). Sophomore Mike Catanzaro won a major decision at 141 pounds. 

SUNY Niagara 47, Elmira College 6

The Wolves had four grapplers win via pinfall - highlighted by freshman Bobby Ranger, who moved up a weight class and pinned his 285-pound opponent in just 50 seconds. Others winners via pin were: Falsetti (149), Syposs (157) and Hall (174). Cicco picked up a 21-3 technical-fall victory at 165 pounds.
