SUNY Niagara edged out visiting Tompkins-Cortland Community College, 2-1, to secure its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon. It is the first Region III victory for the program since a 2-0 triumph vs. SUNY Adirondack on Sept. 22, 2023. The Thunderwolves are now 1-3 overall and 1-1 in regional play.
Freshman Samantha Furan took matters into her own hands, netting both goals for SUNY Niagara. Classmate Brionna Dussault picked up both assists, while freshman goalkeeper Alexandria Szratter made three saves. For the first time this year, the T-Wolves had an advantage in shots (22-4).
The win is the first at the institution for new head coach Daniel J. Kryzyanowicz. The Wolves return to the pitch at 1 p.m. Sunday for a regional tilt at Finger Lakes Community College.
