Spikers take a set from OCC, but drop two matches

Host Niagara County Community College competed hard against Onondaga Community College, but ultimately ran out of steam and came out on the wrong side of a pair of Region III pod matches this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves fell to 1-9 overall and 0-8 in regional play. N-Trip closes out the home portion of its schedule at 6 p.m. Thursday when it hosts Western New York Athletic Conference rival Jamestown Community College.

NCCC freshman Camri King had 25 assists, 12 digs and five service aces, but it wasn't enough in the four-set loss. Freshman Ashanti Thomas put down seven kills, classmate Juliana Levesque notched six kills and 13 digs and fellow frosh Hanna Roberts had 20 digs. Also for NCCC, freshman Allison Farley recorded six aces and first-year player Lilah Frerichs chipped in with five kills.

Erie CC 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 11-9-17

King finished with 14 assists and five digs, while Frerichs added six kills in the straight-set loss at the hands of their crosstown rivals.
