SUNY Niagara has tough start

SUNY Niagara opened Region III pod play with a pair of losses at Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Saturday afternoon. F-M, ranked No. 10 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, and Jefferson Community College each moved to 2-0. The Thunderwolves, meanwhile, dropped to 0-3.

The Wolfpack returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for its home opener vs. local rival Erie Community College.

Fulton-Montgomery CC 3, SUNY Niagara 0

Freshman Myelle Bronaugh had the team's lone kill in a 25-4, 25-7, 25-6 setback. Classmate Ava Gaudy recorded a service ace in defeat.

Jefferson CC 3, SUNY Niagara 0

Freshman Cait Cliffe notched nine kills and five digs, but it wasn't enough in a 25-12, 25-21, 25-16 loss. Sophomore Juliana Levesque added four kills, seven digs and three aces, freshman Paige Van Every put down four kills and classmate Lydia Tetrault chipped in with four digs.
